Birdview flies to SORA!
Since January 2024, permission to fly drones over populated areas or close to people has been subject to federal certification and successful testing.
After a 14-month development phase of a "Specific Operations Risk Assessment" (SORA) in cooperation with the Federal Office of Civil Aviation, we received the final operating permit for the use of our film drones on March 1, 2024. This operating license enables us to comply with the new drone regulations that have been in force since January 2024.
This means we can continue to guarantee you safe and legal drone recordings in accordance with the new regulations.
Under this special permit, we will be able to carry out the following missions in the future:
Drone recordings over inhabited areas with small drones
Drone recordings over populated areas with large drones (e.g. Inspire 3) and certified parachute system
Drone recordings with Heavylifter drones over lightly populated areas
Flights with drones without C-class marking (e.g. various FPV drones)
What is a SORA?
SORA is a standardized approach developed by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to assess and minimize the risk of drone operations. The SORA procedure is also used in Switzerland to assess and ensure the safety of drone flights in various environments, including populated areas. It involves identifying potential risks and defining risk mitigation measures to ensure that drone flights can be conducted safely and in compliance with the law.
