Once again this year, we were on the scene at Switzerland’s biggest open-air concerts and festivals. Whether it was Openair Frauenfeld, Moon&Stars Locarno, Stars in Town Schaffhausen, Zürich Openair, or many other events, our drones captured some of the summer’s biggest live productions from a perspective that uniquely conveys the emotions and atmosphere.
Drones Flying Over People, Experience, Permits, and the Highest Safety Standards
Drone footage of crowds is among the most challenging operations in the professional drone industry. Especially in sensitive areas, populated zones, or at large-scale events, experience, detailed risk analyses, and the appropriate permits are crucial.
Thanks to our continuously refined operational certification—which we developed and have continually refined in collaboration with the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (BAZL)—we are permitted to operate drones just a few meters directly above crowds, subject to clearly defined safety requirements.
This creates perspectives that go far beyond traditional aerial shots. Instead of merely observing the action from the outside, we find ourselves right in the thick of the action. It is precisely this sense of closeness that heightens the emotional impact and captures the event exactly as visitors experience it—authentically, dynamically, and emotionally.

That’s why we’ve deliberately refined our productions this festival season and incorporated new storytelling elements. This has resulted, among other things, in dynamic one-take sequences in which we fly through a human heart made up of festivalgoers, out of an apartment, past an Aperol Spritz on the balcony, and straight into the concert—or, using our specially developed selfie drone, land right in the artist’s hands, seamlessly shifting perspectives.
Shots like these don’t happen by chance. Behind every scene lies meticulous planning, experienced pilots, well-rehearsed procedures, and the highest safety standards. Airspace safety is the top priority
As the number of drone operations at major events increases, so does the importance of professional airspace coordination. At many events, police and security organizations now deploy their own drone systems alongside film production crews.
For many productions, we therefore coordinate the entire drone airspace. Working together with event organizers, government agencies, security services, and other drone pilots, we ensure that all flights are optimally coordinated and that the highest safety standards are maintained at all times.
