Heating with Lake Zurich

EWZ is presenting its new heating campaign at the start of the heating season. The aim is to introduce the still little-known system of lake water heating to the general public. Instead of burning fossil fuels, Zurich is already using the natural energy of Lake Zurich and converting lake water into environmentally friendly heat. A sustainable solution that works almost invisibly in everyday life, but has a major impact for the future.

For the campaign production, we were allowed to realize film and photo shoots from the air. The shoot took place on two beautiful late summer mornings, when the city was still asleep and the first rays of sunlight were gliding over the lake. Capturing these moments was something special: peace, clear air, soft colors and a perfectly still Lake Zurich as a mirror of the waking city.

The drone recordings had to be operated under the specified SORA criteria. SORA is the Europe-wide prescribed safety concept for drone flights when they take place outside the standardized rules. It means that every flight is planned, evaluated and secured in detail, from the flight route to the surroundings and safety measures on the ground. Such missions are only possible with very good preparation and require a great deal of experience in professional air operations.

The campaign was produced in 8K video quality and with 50 megapixel photos to capture every reflection on the water and every detail of the city in razor-sharp detail. Our creative partner Studio Marvin Hugentobler was responsible for the graphic implementation of the campaign elements, perfectly staging the visual data.

The campaign is now visible throughout Zurich and we are delighted to be part of this innovative and sustainable vision.
It's moments like these that show how strongly nature, technology and creativity can work together.

The future of heat supply is quiet, clean and right under our feet, or rather, under the surface of Lake Zurich. And when you get to tell this story from the air, the job is twice as enjoyable.
